Multi Media Card Association (MMCA) was founded in 1998to
promote the worldwide adoption of a compact, removable
standard for storing and retrieving digital information in
small, low power devices. Multi Media Cards (MMC) are the
world’s smallest removable solid-state memory solutions for
mobile applications.
The MMCA
developed and regulates open industry standards that define
all types of Multi Media Cards, and drives worldwide
acceptance of Multi Media Cards as an industry standard
across multiple host platforms and markets. The organization
aggressively works toward full interchangeability and
compatibility (including backward compatibility) between the
cards produced by all MMCA members. The MMCA also promotes
